Paradino brings NEOS insurance pricing into the client Workspace

The new NEOS Connector allows advisers to retrieve indicative pricing using client information already held in Paradino.

“I’ve already done this once, why am I doing it again?”

It is a familiar frustration for advisers. A client’s date of birth, occupation, state of residence and smoking status may already be held in Paradino. Yet when the advice process moves into insurance pricing, much of the same information has traditionally needed to be found and entered again.

Paradino’s new NEOS Connector is designed to remove that repetition. Advisers and paraplanners can open a client Workspace, tell Athena which benefits and sums insured they want priced, and retrieve indicative pricing for three products available through the NEOS Platform: NEOS Protection, Encompass Protection and Futura Protection.

Athena begins with the client information already held in Paradino. It checks the client record and documents in the Knowledge Base for the details needed to generate premiums. These may come from a current fact find, meeting summary, advice document or another file held for the client.

If something is missing or unclear, Athena asks the adviser before proceeding. It does not fill in the gaps by guessing. The adviser remains responsible for deciding which benefits and sums insured should be priced.

From the client file to indicative pricing

A request can begin with a straightforward instruction in the client Workspace:

“Price $1.5 million Life Cover and $500,000 TPD for this client, stepped, across all three products.”

Athena checks the information available for the selected client and prices the requested cover against live NEOS rates. The result shows the inputs used and the product attached to each premium. Any assumptions requiring attention are clearly flagged.

The Connector supports Life Cover, Total and Permanent Disablement, Trauma or Critical Illness and Income Protection. Child Cover can also be included alongside adult cover. Advisers can request variable age-stepped premiums or variable premiums to age 65 or 70. Income Protection premiums can reflect waiting periods from 30 to 180 days or two years, with benefit periods of two years, five years or to age 65.

A full date of birth is required because premiums change with age. Athena checks the client’s occupation against the provider’s catalogue instead of inferring a class from the job title. Where gross annual income affects the Super Contributions Option, Athena identifies the figure held for the client and asks the adviser to confirm it before proceeding.

Because these details can materially affect the premium, the adviser can see exactly what the pricing is based on.

Keep the conversation going

The first set of premiums is rarely the end of the work. An adviser may want to change the structure, test another waiting period or see how a premium could develop over time.

There is no need to craft the perfect prompt. A follow-up can be as simple as:

“Add a 12-month buy-back option.”

Athena retains the earlier premium inputs within the conversation, so the adviser only needs to describe what has changed. Other requests might include:

“Add Income Protection at $12,000 a month, with a 90-day waiting period and a benefit period to age 65.”
“What does the Life Cover premium look like each year to age 65?”
“Reduce TPD to $500,000 and show me the revised premiums.”

Athena can adjust sums insured, add or remove benefits, change waiting periods or benefit periods, switch premium types, and search for cover within a nominated budget.

It can also project premiums year by year as the client ages, giving the adviser a clearer view of how the selected premium type may develop beyond the initial premium.

Advisers can price the same cover across NEOS Protection, Encompass Protection and Futura Protection. The results do not rank the products or name a cheapest option because the products are not like for like. This is a comparison of products available through the NEOS Platform, not whole-of-market research.

One connection across the practice

Once an organisation is included in the staged rollout, an organisation administrator can enable NEOS from the Connectors page in Paradino. The Connector then becomes available to everyone in the organisation.

Individual advisers do not need to connect their own NEOS login, and there is no separate connection to establish for each client. Once enabled, the adviser selects a client, opens their Workspace and asks Athena for pricing.

Adviser review remains essential

All premiums retrieved through the Connector are indicative and subject to formal quotes and underwriting. The provider’s disclaimer is reproduced with every result.

Athena prices the cover specified by the adviser. It does not decide how much cover a client needs. It also cannot submit applications, service policies, return underwriting decisions or bind cover.

Advisers should review the client information, premium inputs, relevant product information and any assumptions before using the pricing in the advice process.

The information is already in Paradino. The Connector puts it to use when an adviser requests pricing, without asking them to enter it all again.
